Nestled along the shoreline of a beautiful river mouth on upper Lake Huron is the town of Thessalon. Once a lumber town, Thessalon is now the hub of a large recreation area in the North. Thessalon is located 80 km (48 mi) east of Sault Ste. Marie and the International Bridge.

Thessalon makes an excellent base for outdoor adventures like canoeing, fishing and hunting. Nearby hiking trails offer spectacular views and waterfalls. Art lovers will find local artisans ready to share their works and ideas with you. Because the Thessalon River runs through the middle of town, this waterway serves as a passage for boaters, canoes, kayaking and fishing. When frozen in winter, snowmobiling and snowshoeing are the activities of choice. There are over 8 km of groomed cross country ski trails provided by volunteers and welcoming landowners.

Thessalon is a natural stop for boaters at their lakefront marina. This full-service marina offers shelter for up to 40 boats. The captain’s service house includes laundry, a full-service kitchen, lounge with library and TV, clean showers and facilities. Bicycles are available to explore town to run errands or enjoy a meal. When meandering the lakefront in the summer on their sand beaches you will want to stay into the evening to enjoy their beautiful sunsets.
